Last time I checked in I mentioned a new plan and that plan is now underway.  BeeGee spent all of April and May on pasture with his sweetheart, the marvelous Miss Maddox.  We had a few more pasture lessons, but not as many as I would've liked because it always rains on Saturday and working in the rain kind of sucks.  Then  I got to take care of both horses for the entire month of May and that was great because the daily minimum of 3 minutes of horsemanship is better than no horsemanship.  And often I would spend a half hour just hanging out with BeeGee, grooming or doing little exercises with him sans halter.  He seemed to enjoy those sessions because it was rare that he walked away from me and he was perfectly free to do so since he wasn't haltered.

On May 31st early in the morning, Meghan brought her trailer to haul him to his new home.  Her mare was in the trailer to keep him company.  He stepped in, nipped her on the rump and she responded with a swift reprimand, which pretty much said "that really turns me on, said no one ever".  He kept his teeth to himself after that and tried to focus on being comfortable getting in and out of the trailer.  Meghan allowed him to take his time and soon he was getting in and staying there on his own.  What he didn't like was the door shutting and Meghan leaving him.  Fortunately the drive to the stable was short and he really did okay, even got out without panicking too much.  And he settled pretty quickly too.

I watched Meghan work him yesterday and he seems glad to be getting back to regular work.  She's continuing the groundwork, introducing him to new, scary things, which he's taking mostly in stride.  She'll work on trailer loading, hand walking down the road, which will be new to him.  His confidence has markedly increased and it won't be long before we're in the saddle.  That's important but it's more important that he's confident and happy about his jobs.  We'll get there when we get there.
