Welcome to The Equestrian Nomad, blog of a horse crazy girl impersonating a responsible adult. My posts are primarily about life with Mustangs. I use gentle horsemanship techniques, explore different equestrian disciplines, and attempt to out how to fit everything in one busy life.

I started this blog in 2003, when I ended a break from having horses. My childhood was spent riding fat Appaloosas bareback with a halter and leadrope with my friends. As a young adult I tried working with horses as a career and found that horses as a hobby was a better fit for me.

College and other interests (there’s a substantial mountaineering and skiing section in this blog starting in about 2007) took me away from horses for almost a decade. Like any passion, it came back!

My equestrian focus has changed from a specific discipline. Over the years I competed in many equestrian disciplines, including western pleasure, roping, cow penning, and hunter/jumpers. Now my primary interest is making life better for two Mustangs I adopted from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). For more information about Mustang adoption, visit this website: https://mustangheritagefoundation.org/adopt/

I also like to gather horsemanship insight and inspiration from all of you who are doing it all in one busy life.
